M1llionz' 2021 mixtape Provisional License was a great introduction to a rapper with engaging stories to tell, Loosely conceptual, the project was based around a narrative of a long distance drive with a dubious package and no official paperwork to suggest he should be behind the wheel. The action reaches a head when M1llionz is pulled over by police and speeds off to avoid further questions.
That tale feels relatively quaint, however when compared to the one laid out in his new "Right Dere" video. Shot in Nigeria by Boy Director, the video finds M1llionz facing off against a childhood friend in the middle of a political uprising. The brightly lit visuals pop throughout while never distracting from the traumatic experiences being depicted. Rapping over a U.K. drill beat, M1llionz talks about how success doesn't provide an instant passport out of shady situations as he raps 2I keep telling bro it’s not worth it but I’m a hypocrite, 'cause I got so much to lose but still I’m in this park looking inconspicuous."
Speaking in a statement, M1llionz says: "My return to music is going to be different, I’m not just a drill artist and I don’t want to be labelled that. 'Right Dere' is my last drill song for a while and I had to make it extra special for my fans. Shooting videos internationally is my thing and working with Boy Director on this was the perfect way to end this era."
