Elon Musk is rebranding Twitter as X

The social media company has a new logo, designed by one of Musk’s followers.

Elon Musk has given Twitter a makeover, scrapping the blue bird icon for a new "minimalist art deco" X image. The Twitter owner first indicated his plans to change the old logo on Saturday before rolling out the new one in the early hours of Monday. The new image was created by one of Musk's followers, who has tweeted that he first created it for a now-defunct podcast.

Musk has tweeted that the icon “probably changes later, certainly will be refined,” but the one letter name is a long-running moniker adopted by the company owner. He folded Twitter into an entity called X Corp, whose parent is X Holdings Corp, shortly after purchasing the company for $44 Billion in October 2022. His spacecraft manufacturing company is SpaceX while earlier this month Musk outlined plans for new artificial intelligence company, xAI.

The logo was created by Twitter user Sawyer Merritt, co-founder of a sustainable clothing business, who tweeted it at Musk after the owner solicited ideas from users of the app. It has been pointed out, however, that the image is notably similar to the use used by Indian dance music artist Kxlider.

Twitter’s CEO, Linda Yaccarino, began the roll-out on Monday, tweeting the design and stating: “X is here! Let’s do this.” Yaccarino later outlined an AI-powered app “centred in audio, video, messaging, payments/banking.” Musk, meanwhile, shared an image of the company HQ celebrating the change.
