Oneohtrix Point Never shares raw files for unfinished “Memories of Music” video

The 3.5 GB file contains outlines, screenshots, and an animatic for the Again track.

For Again, his most recent album as Oneohtrix Point Never, Daniel Lopatin has teamed up with artist Freeka Tet to create some of the visual components, including the very sick music video for "A Barely Lit Path." It appears that the pair were going to collaborate again on another music video, this time for "Memories Of Music." However, according to an Instagram post, the video has hit production troubles. "We reached an impasse and were not able to realize the video on the level at which we believe it should exist on."

It's not all bad news, though. OPN and Tet say that work on the video will continue and have shared the raw files for the project via a WeTransfer link.

Among the hundreds of files you'll find several pictures of Aphex Twin and Better Call Saul actor Michael McKean, Twin Peaks' Sheryl Lee, the Uber logo, different mixes of the song, and an animantic for the planned clip. The video's treatment has McKean starring as a fictionalized version of himself "on an 8-hour odyssey on foot from the heart of New York City’s financial district up to the Eastchester Music Center, all in pursuit of a demented secret." However, the actor apparently declined to appear in the video, according to a screenshot of a text message included among the files.

In their statement, OPN and Tet's ask the reader "to imagine the many different possibilities, which could potentially be in conversation with the final product one day." They also encourage the brands mentioned in the treatment to reach out "if they wish to discuss partnership opportunities."
