d0llywood1 is well-known for her ties to the digicore and hyperpop scenes, but her SFX-stuffed music owes more to Lex Luger and Young Chop than anything else. Point in case: “I could have gone to CalArts,” two and a half minutes of icily-processed shit talk that would fit neatly on a Chief Keef mixtape, complete with gunshots and adlibs. Although Sosa probably wouldn’t brag, “Shawty fuck with me because I’m fruity.”

d0llywood1’s deliberate flow makes sure every silly line sinks in, but her autotuned vocals bring a weird solemnity to couplets like “we gon rip him up like some looseleaf/kickin shit like I’m Bruce Lee.” The overall effect lands somewhere between the Joker and Nathan Fielder. Where some artists strive for earnest menace, d0lly’s flexes and threats come across mildly sociopathic or even bored, as if checking off her to-do list in between reruns of Family Guy and The Boondocks.
