Babyface is a 13-time Grammy winner and a legend of R&B music. His work is beloved by millions of people worldwide, and he is widely considered to be a genius of the genre. It's rude to interrupt anyone after you've asked them a question to start a conversation with someone else, but it's really tough to interrupt Babyface after you've asked him about modern R&B to speak with Chappell Roan.
Unfortunately, two Associated Press journalists did just that during a red carpet interview with Babyface at the 2025 Grammys. After one interviewer asks him about the genre-blending tendencies of modern R&B, the second cuts him off and tries to get Chappell Roan's attention. Babyface graciously (if somewhat awkwardly) asks if they want to speak with her instead, and shuffles off. Watch below.
Chappell Roan seems oblivious to the whole thing, so please don't come for her. Matter of fact, don't come for anyone involved: the journalists in question have apologized on-air, the Independent reports.
Babyface is nominated for Best R&B Album (Girls Night Out), and it would be really great if he won.
