LATEST: d4vd is aware of the incident and is cooperating with the police on their investigation, a representative for the singer told NBC Los Angeles on Tuesday. Police have also revealed that the body found in the back of the vehicle was that of a woman.
"D4vd has been informed about what's happened. And, although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities," the spokesperson told NBC Los Angeles.
d4vd, who's currently on tour in support of his debut album, Withered, performed in Minneapolis on Tuesday night where he was filmed by fans giving Labubus out to the crowd. He's due to play Kansas City on Wednesday. The singer himself has not made a public statement.
Previously: A decomposing body was discovered on Monday (September 9) in an impounded 2023 Tesla registered to d4vd, ABC7 News reports. Police say they were called after complaints of a strong smell coming from the car, which had been in the California tow lot for a number of days.
Born David Anthony Burke, d4vd gained global recognition for viral hits like "Romantic Homicide" and "Here With Me." His debut studio album Withered was released in April, just over two years after his breakout EP Petals to Thorns. He's currently on tour in support of the new project.
The deceased was found in the car's trunk wrapped in a bag. Their name has not yet been revealed by authorities; d4vd's recent posts to social media would suggest he is not the deceased. The FADER has reached out to d4vd's representative and the Los Angeles Police Department for more information.
