Trim, "Floor"

Trim's viral breakout “BOAT” could’ve boxed her in as a TikTok one-off, but on “Floor,” she proves she has more hits in her. She’s constantly compared to “old Nicki,” but it’s clear that Trim is Trim. Her voice recognizable the second she spits. It’s that presence that’ll lock her into the new-age rap girl conversation for good. — Kylah Williams

Lauren Auder, “Praxis”

Lauren Auder announced her forthcoming album Whole World As Vigil (out March 27 via untitled (recs)) with “Praxis,” a magisterial piece of post-rock pop. Its chorus is huge, built with layers of strings, guitar and Auder’s ever-expressive raspy vocals. The track teeters the line between overwhelm and catharsis. — Tobias Hess

TR Gobrazy, “Homeless”

Drake’s claim that “nobody could outrap London” raised my eyebrows, but six months later, the city’s rap scene is backing up the claim. Just listen to TR Gobrazy's "Homeless." The track’s blown-out production is overstimulating, and so hard. — KW

Jessie Ware, “I Could Get Used To This”

As hard as they may try, no other artist can do disco like Jessie Ware. “I Can Get Used To This” is the pink glitter cocktail that you down in one go before stepping on a dance floor: luxe, fancy, and so much fun. — Steffanee Wang

Gabriela Richardson, “Mononoke”

“Mononoke” is an apt title for this piece of orchestral pop, which would be right at home on the soundtrack to Hayao Miyazaki’s canonical anime, Princess Monoke. Richardson’s soft Spanish vocals, the rising synth pads and the triumphant brass all lend this song a feeling of flight. — TH

Naomi Scott, “Losing You”

British singer Naomi Scott (whom you may also recognize from Smile 2) is watching a relationship fall apart on “Losing You” but with a twinkle in her eye. The lyrics are heartbreaking but the track’s unmistakable groove — and coyness in her voice — leaves you thinking there’s more than what’s on the surface. —SW

Wizkid and Asake, “Turbulence”

Your favorite Nigerian superstars finally link up on their long-awaited collab EP, Turbulence. On this track, Wizzy and Mr. Money get surprisingly emotional, singing about self-love and mind their business, over a beat that warrants whining waists. — KW

Joyce Wrice, “Break Me In”

Joyce Wrice’s lead single “Break Me In” from her as-yet untitled sophomore album shows Wrice building on the success of 2021’s Overgrown. It’s bigger, bolder, and badder. “Don’t make me wait / nobody else got me feeling this way,” she sings on the track, which is how this song makes me feel about her forthcoming project. — Vivian Medithi

Self Proclaimed Narcissist, "New Man"

Self Proclaimed Narcissist lives up to his name on “New Man.” “Baby don’t you give up on me,” the anonymous singer croons at an ex who dares to move on seven months later. His smooth vocals and a jangling guitar lend this biting song a sense of cathartic acceptance: “I don’t wanna say goodbye / but we had a good ride.” — VM
