The line to get in to the premiere of xaviersobased FADER documentary at Vans Skate Space in Bushwick snaked down the block, with fans braving the cold to see the New York City rapper and get a first look at the new 12-minute film (which is now available to watch here).
"Community" was the word of the night, with fans sharing their excitement to see the Xavier rapper in person and convene with one another. Attendees were quick to flash Xavier's "1c" hand gesture when taking pictures. (Xavier talked about the "1c" term in the documentary, connecting it to gaming and saying that "[1c] is the homies").
Once fans settled inside the space, they gathered to watch the Alex Hodor-Lee-directed doc, which brings fans behind the scenes of xaviersobased's The Riverside Tour and the video shoot for "Tony Hawk." More broadly, the doc provides deeper insight into the rising artist's mindset as he reaches a new peak in his career, showing him share his reflections on politics, creativity and his community of fans.
The xaviersobased documentary marks the return of FADER documentaries, this being the first since 2021.
FADER documentaries have captured some of culture's most influential artists right as they were breaking out into full blown superstardom; for example, Lil Yachty, Turnstile, Jack Harlow, Princess Nokia and the late Mac Miller all had their own FADER-produced documentaries.
After the premiere, xaviersobased hung out with fans and even performed his riotous Xavier-album closer, "Party At My Place," with DJ Rennessy on the decks, of course. Take a look below for a peak into a wild night with rising rapper and his dedicated community.
This event was made possible by Vans and Atlantic Records.
