DJ Premier is the inaugural recipient of the Rob Stone JoyRx Music Award, a new distinction presented by The FADER that recognizes the legacy of pivotal figures in the music industry while raising awareness for JoyRx, a program that delivers free music experiences to children facing cancer and serious illness. The award is named after the late FADER co-founder Rob Stone, who died of cancer in 2024 and beat an earlier bout of cancer during his freshman year of college.
The Rob Stone JoyRx Music Awards took place on Thursday, February 26, at New York City's Chelsea Studios. DJ Stretch Armstrong and DJ Mick helmed the decks. In addition to the ceremony, various music memorabilia, such as prints from photographer Jonathan Mannion, were put at auction. All proceeds from the event went toward JoyRx.
The night's stacked guest list included Ebro, Miss Info, DJ ENUFF, DJ Gee Spin, DJ Teddy Tedd from The Awesome 2, Doug Grama & Dave Lotwin of D&D Studios, Rodney Shealey of HarbourView, Daniel Glass, Chris Atlas of FatBeats, and more.
See photos of the night below. Revisit our remembrance of Rob Stone.
