21-year-old singer d4vd has been arrested under suspicion of murder, LAPD announced Thursday evening. David Burke is accused of killing 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose dismembered remains were found in an abandoned Tesla belonging to d4vd on September 8, 2025.
The LA County District Attorney’s Office will be reviewing the case on Monday to determine what charges to bring. In a statement to Associated Press, Burke’s attorneys said in part, “Let us be clear — the actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death.”
Hernandez was first reported missing by her family in 2024, when she was a 13-year-old seventh grader; d4vd would have been 19 at the time. When Hernandez’s remains were found, her mother told TMZ that her daughter had a boyfriend named David. Police believe that Hernandez had been deceased for some time prior to the discovery due to the advanced state of decomposition of the remains. Hernandez and Burke also appear to have had matching finger tattoos.
