KRYSTAL, “PWLT”

f(x) fans rejoice: KRYSTAL is back. Her latest track, “PWLT,” is dreamy bedroom pop at its finest — featuring an addictive hook (“People want to live together”), guitar work by Kuo-Hung Tseng of Taiwanese band Sunset Rollercoaster, and hypnotic synths from OHHYUK of Korean indie band Hyukoh. This is just the beginning of a long-awaited return to music for the former f(x) member ahead of her forthcoming album slated to drop later this year. — India Roby

Charli xcx, “Playboy Bunny”

“All my music sounds the same, well it’s because I made it.” Over the past week I’ve thought about this lyric a lot and the silly ways we (The FADER included) talk about and critique music online. Almost all of the time none of it is that deep! Sometimes the gift is simply that art continues to be made and exists. —Steffanee Wang

Fatt Smaxk feat. Playboi Carti, “Smaxk or Die [Remix]”

Following the autumnal success of Fatt Smaxk’s breakout single “Butta B,” Playboi Carti himself has appeared from whatever nocturnal dimension he inhabits to grace “Smaxk or Die” with a ridiculous, Swamp Izzo-assisted remix. “Numbers on my mind, I’ma smack if you owe,” Carti croaks, but not even the OPIUM labelhead can outrap Fatt Smaxk right now. – Vivian Medithi

mary in the junkyard, “New Muscles”

British band mary in the junk yard’s music skirts the line between whimsical and haunting. Their latest track, “New Muscles,” has a march-like quality, with clattering percussion and repeated oo’s. The musical sturdiness provides a nice contrast to singer Clari Freeman-Taylor’s vocals and lyrics, which feel like they’re on the precipice of breaking. — Tobias Hess

Che Mario, “U Da Cake”

Gqom, hip-hop, Amapiano, Dancehall, and Ballroom just linked up for the song of the summer. The track opens with a “BOMBACLOT” that gets you prepared to whine before the whistling background will have you winding up your death drop. Che Mario slides in singing a reference to the viral “you the birthday” phrase that’s taken over TikTok and he’s 100% the birthday candle, because melding this many genres together is absolute flames. — Kylah Williams

Torture Methods, “Her Pale Visage”

Torture Methods’ (Grant Chapman) debut self-titled album is filled with craggly synths, screams, and murky pianos. A reprieve comes in the form of “Her Pale Visage,” a comparatively minimalist piece of piano-led orchestration that moves from looping hallucination to euphoric reprieve. — Tobias Hess

OsamaSon, “off that!”

This bouncy, squiggly track appears to be our first glimpse at OsamaSon’s hotly anticipated next album NOCTURNAL. If “off that!” is any indication, his next record will be closer to fan-favorites like “Slime U Out,” and his flows and vocals are crisper and cleaner than ever. Read our full track review. – Vivian Medithi

A Good Year, “Right Back”

Another Copenhagen classic is added to the pantheon. Copenhagen duo A Good Year just put out their great new album Play on Escho (Smerz, Astrid Sonne, and more), featuring standout track “Right Back,” a forlorn, yet heartful guitar and strings rock driver, with a touch of trip-hop panache. — Tobias Hess

Eli feat. Ayleen Valentine, “Love U thru the DJ”

We’re big fans of Eli here. The new track “Love U thru the DJ” featuring fellow vocalist acrobat Ayleen Valentine is a quintessential “cry in the car” pop anthem with stacked vocal harmonies and heavenly synth arpeggios. — Tobias Hess
