Fiona Apple has released her first song since her 2025 protest anthem “Pretrial (Let Her Go Home)."
The new track, "Horns of a Bull" is the title sequence for Apple TV's new crime thriller Lucky starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Timothy Olyphant, and Annette Bening.
The new track by Apple, co-produced by herself and her drummer Amy Aileen Wood, is reminiscent of Apple's last full-length album, Fetch The Bolt Cutters, with its rumbling percussion and tense piano chords. Apple sounds as expressive as ever as she sings of patriarchy and power struggle: "I pay attention to the men behind the curtain / I was born in the horns of a bull.”
Lucky follows Anya Taylor-Joy's titular character as she's on the run from both the FBI and criminal forces following a failed heist. The show is based on the 2021 novel by Marissa Stapley and created by Jonathan Tropper and Reese Witherspoon, and executive produced by Taylor-Joy.
Taylor-Joy chatted about Apple's involvement in a recent with Movieplayer.it: “I wanted [the music] to be mostly female-centric and have kind of a rock edge to it, and what I’m absolutely thrilled about is that the legend, Fiona Apple, does our title sequences," shared Taylor-Joy. "When that became a possibility […] I was just screaming, my teenage self freaked out. I think her voice is a perfect description of this series."
