Las Vegas screamo band February plays Coachella in new FADER doc
Meet the young band at the forefront of the 2020s screamo scene as they play their biggest stage yet.
Las Vegas screamo band Febuary didn't believe their booking agent when he texted them: "Hey guys, something crazy ... Coachella?" But the offer was real: The young Nevada upstarts were set to be playing in Indio Valley alongside Sabrina Carpenter and Karol G as the only screamo band on the festival's 2026 bill — and as the second group from the genre to ever play the major festival. (The first being Pomona's Vs Self last year.)
The FADER captured Febuary — comprising members Rila Ogawa, Abby Walker, Airon Gauuf, and Italy Jones — in the days leading up to, and during, the major festival in a new documentary, directed and shot by Alex Hodor-Lee and edited by Sarah Tang. Set largely in Febuary's suburban Las Vegas milieu, where beige, garage-entrusted homes become the backdrop for stageless, backyard screamo shows, the film captures both a band on the cusp of their most major industry showcase yet and an overlooked music scene tucked in the surreal metropolis of Las Vegas. At one point in the documentary, band member Airon Gauuf describes the city as being "built off tourist money in a predatory way," citing how slot machines have infiltrated every inch the city, including its grocery stores.
Formed in 2023, Febuary broke out through a mix of word-of-mouth excitement among the emo community and songs like "No Way..." gaining traction on social media. Check out Febuary's forthcoming North American tour dates here.
