Which artists dropped out of the Ed Sheeran tour?

Yesterday, Macklemore issued a statement after being dropped from Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour over political speech in support of Palestine. The rapper said his longtime friend was pressured by a group of stadium owners led by Robert Kraft. This morning, Sheeran put out a statement of his own, confirming that he had been approached by Kraft and other venue owners, and that the decision to take Macklemore off the tour was the promoter's choice, not his.

Though Sheeran said he was "appalled by the conflict between Israel and Palestine" and "not complicit," his "apolitical" stance has been interpreted as anything but neutral. Now, openers from other dates of the Loop Tour have announced they are dropping out of the Loop Tour in solidarity with Macklemore.

Here's everyone who’s dropped out of the Ed Sheeran tour so far.

Irish band Beoga served as Sheeran's backing band on The Loop Tour. Following Sheeran's statement Tuesday morning, the band said in part, "As musicians, playing to those crowds every night is the stuff of dreams but to play in venues that silence anyone advocating for a Free Palestine is simply not an option for us."

The band went on to say, "Research how much Robert Kraft has done to fight the BDS movement. [...] We were there for Macklemore's performance and speech. We fully supported his message, so did most of the audience in Met Life Stadium which terrifies the lobbies."

FINNEAS, aka Billie Eilish's older brother and key producer, announced he was dropping out of the Loop Tour on Tuesday afternoon.

"Artists must not be silenced when they speak up for the oppressed," he wrote on Instagram. "I stand with Palestine and its people."

Danish pop band Lukas Graham announced they were departing the Loop Tour on Tuesday afternoon, saying in part, "Money doesn't give you the right to own the conversation. Nobody's bank balance should decide who gets to speak or which suffering we're allowed to acknowledge."

The band signed off their post with three watermelon emojis; the watermelon has become a de facto cultural symbol for Palestine, particularly in Israeli-controlled areas where flying the Palestinian flag is not allowed.

Irish singer Aaron Rowe pulled out of the Loop Tour on Tuesday afternoon, saying in part, "as Irish people we know all too well about genocide, forced famine and violent occupation."

Rowe went on to say, "I cannot stand by and allow billionaires to use their position of power to silence the rightful voices of those who speak up against Israeli genocide and who highlight the savage murder of children."
