Making Time ∞ 2026 brought ear, Kim Gordon and more together

The 2026 edition of Making Time ∞ (pronounced “Making Time Forever”) was a weekend of transcendence. This year's line-up featured an eclectic but spiritually connected spate of artists that included Kim Gordon performing her new, punky digi-trap, vinyl DJ powerhouse Theo Parrish spinning three hours of sonic elation, and Deerhunter frontman Bradford Cox performing as Atlas Sound for his first show in seven years.

The stacked festival continued to grow in 2026 after a marquee 2025 edition saw it sell out all passes all three days. Now, in its sixth year, Making Time ∞ has secured its spot in the global electronic and experimental festival circuit, alongside the likes of Sustain Release in the Catskills, Horst festival outside of Brussels, or Dripping in New Jersey. All of them have the kind of finger-on-the-pulse curation that unites a hodgepodge of people who spend an equal amount of time on misty techno dance floors and in the byzantine annals of Bandcamp. Making Time ∞ stands out, though, for its historic Philadelphia location and for festival founder Dave P.’s tapped in bookings.

“This year I was more thoughtful about digging deeper into the underground,” says Dave P., who also continued his commitment to booking more live acts alongside DJs. Some bands that were tapped this year included FADER doc stars ear, who performed their hardcore folktronica at The Lot Radio stage, and Philly shoegaze stalwarts They Are Gutting A Body of Water, who received a hometown hero’s welcome at the Majestic stage. Meanwhile local acts like Jeff Zeigler and Zillas on Acid, and local selectors like Cubby and Jewelsea highlighted the deep talent coming out of Philly.

Fort Mifflin, the historic military bunker that sits beside the Philadelphia International Airport at which the festival takes place, continued to enhance the magic of the festival. Dave P. now sits on the board of directors of Fort Mifflin and claims a “deep connection to the site.” In 2023, the Making Time team replaced the grounds’ grass and continue to care for the historic site, which includes contending with its “ghosts.” Every year, Dave P. brings in a “paranormal expert” who communes with the spirits of the space, which was a battleground during the Revolutionary War and a military prison during the Civil War. “There is a lot of paranormal activity in the Fort,” he says, citing a log on the grounds that documents unexplained experiences and multiple “green orb” sightings.

“The paranormal expert comes to talk to the ghosts and tells them what’s going on and that we have good intentions,” he says of the pre-fest communion. “[He tells them] we're here to do something good for the fort. I think they're having fun. I think they appreciate what we're doing.”
