serpentwithfeet brings his melodious vocals to the woods in a new live performance of "Sentinel," the singer's latest song released today.
The 2018 FADER cover star shares the video in collaboration with FERN — a new nature-based music performance platform exploring how the natural world can shift the way listeners and artists experience music. In the video, EPISODE :001, serpentwithfeet delivers his performance in a serene, wooded environment.
"It’s like a natural reverb, a natural delay that I haven’t actually experienced before," serpentwithfeet says of the forest performance in a press release. "I think it’s been really important for me to sort of have my gossip time with nature, hear what the birds are talking about, hear what the trees have to tell me.”
"Sentinel" is serpentwithfeet's first solo release since 2025's "Lover's Spit." In 2025, he shared GRIP SEQUEL, an expanded version of his 2024 dance epic album GRIP. "Sentinel" continues spotlighting serpentwithfeet's liquid vocals, this time over a churning, distorted beat and rising strings.
Launching today, FERN is a performance platform that aims to “expand the relationship between Black creativity and nature," writes co-founder of We The Roses Sherlen Archibald in a press release. The new series will bring artists into natural landscapes for intimate performances and conversations, with new episodes set to drop on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.
