Roland will open its first standalone store in the U.S., a 9,000 square feet space at 414 West 14th Street in Manhattan's Meatpacking District. An invitation-only grand opening is set for Saturday, October 10.
The first room visitors walk into is dedicated to the TR-808 Rhythm Composer. The rest of the store is split into areas for piano, drums, guitar, synthesizers, dance/DJ, and Roland Cloud. It includes a grand piano showroom, the only dedicated DW drum showroom in the U.S., and a "BOSS Cavern" for BOSS pedals and amps. An AI-driven system called Roland Soundscapes will score the space in real time, generating music that shifts with visitors' movement, MIDI input, time of day, and the weather outside.
The store will run free 30-minute workshops in piano, drums, synth, BOSS gear, dance/DJ, and Roland Cloud, plus one-on-one demo appointments with Roland specialists. Booking opens through the store's site in October. The New York location joins Roland's flagship stores in London and Tokyo and will be open seven days a week, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
