Jae Stephens, “Expensive & Difficult”

It’s hard to pick a favorite song off of The FADER’s GEN F star Jae Stephens's new album AUDACITY, but among my top picks is this Timbaland-style bouncer that boasts Stephens’s eye-popping one-liners, such as: “I like bringing home the bacon / But I still spend yours, that's reparations.” — Tobias Hess

Nino Paid, “Edge of the Earth”

“Let’s both try to take all the pills and see who’ll die from it first,” Nino Paid bitterly raps on the chorus of “Edge of the Earth.” Nino’s music is candid and earnest, even when he's at his lowest, but “Edge of the Earth” feels particularly stark: “I know in this life you could die any moment / [If] I tell you, ‘I love you?’ I love you.” – Vivian Medithi

Rochelle Jordan, KAYTRANADA, “TTW (Kaytranada Remix)”

Sumptuous and serpentine, “TTW” is another knockout collaboration between Rochelle Jordan and KAYTRANADA. It sounds like velvet couches in a packed-out club that you’d kill to get access to. — Steffanee Wang

Jean Deaux, “IMMACULATE”

Chicago’s own Jean Deaux returns with a braggy bit of cloud rap. I love its cinemascope chorus where the synth pads expand into a reverby wraparound as Jean talks her autotuned shit. — TH

Internet Girl feat. Kenny Mason, “DA BUSINESS”

Genre-agnostic South African trio Internet Girl will drop their debut album YES on November 13. They’ve released a new single “DA BUSINESS” featuring fellow rap-rocker Kenny Mason, who calmly flows over this electronic-grunge instrumental. – VM

They Are Gutting a Body of Water, “free willy”

Philly Shoegaze stalwarts just announced a forthcoming project of “loosies” alongside some hot-to-the-touch previews like project closer “free willy” which pairs a fuzzed out wall of sound with a lean-back, almost oldschool hip-hop beat. It’s tough as hell. — TH

Klein, “spiritual warfare”

London multi-instrumentalist klein just released a modern classical album my own fairytale that is equally haunting and beautiful. “spiritual warfare,” dedicated to the late Keith Porter who was shot and killed by an off-duty ICE agent in December, sets a Malcolm X speech to a looping breath of strings and reeds. It stays with you. — TH
