The rising indie singer’s soft-focus feelings are as big as her ambition.

The Opener is The FADER’s mini-interview series with exciting new artists we think you should know.

pami has a wry sense of humor, though it might not be the first thing you notice about the Thai singer’s heart-on-her-sleeve music. Her wistful bedroom pop songs zero in on tender feelings (heartache and new romance, natch), but she’s never afraid to poke and prod at a bruise. Her 2025 debut album puffette presents a loose bundle of soft vignettes, but the honed edge of songs like “not yet” and “pity dirty” make it clear that no matter how sentimental pami might be, she’s no pushover when it comes to love.

She’s no pushover when it comes to her career either. pami got her start in Thailand’s entertainment industry as an actress and singer before breaking into C-pop through the reality TV show The Coming One. She was briefly part of the Chinese pop trio SiS, but that group fizzled out after a couple years, and pami returned to Thailand unsure if she would continue to pursue music.

She eventually wound up studying music production at university in London, dialing in her current sound with the English 2024 single “covent garden” and linking up with Bangkok-based label JUICEY (James Alyn, Telex Telexs). In the months since the release of puffette, pami’s star has risen rapidly at home and abroad, partly thanks to her super-vivid music videos and the mounting growth of Thai indie music at large.

In 2026, she’s released a steady drip of singles, including “cry jar,” “all in,” and last week’s “loser.” Her latest releases can be as lovelorn as her debut, but her pen game feels just a touch more caustic, snappier and more incisive. Though she's coy on details, pami hints to The FADER that the new singles are part of her in-the-works sophomore album.

The FADER caught up with pami over email to chat about career goals, sisterly advice, and her love for Gracie Abrams.

The FADER: What’s the coolest thing to do in your hometown?

pami: Actually, I have 2 hometowns. I was born in Hat Yai and lived there for around 7 years, then moved to Phuket and grew up there for 11 years. The coolest thing to do in Phuket is spending time on the beach and eating seafood! For Hat Yai, it’s spending time with my family and enjoying my grandma’s food.

What was the first album you bought?

The first album I bought was Gracie Abrams’s Good Riddance. This album has been with me throughout my time in London. I listened to her songs every day, so whenever I listen to this album, all of my memories from London come flashing back to me.

What was the last movie you watched?

It was Obsession. It’s really, really eerie and scary to me HAHAHA.

What’s a motto you think everyone should live by?

Live in the present, have small goals that you know you can achieve every day, and don’t have high expectations for things you can’t control.

When you’re not making music, how do you spend your free time?

I don’t really like going out, so I usually play games, both on mobile and on PS5. I like playing RPG open-world games and MOBA games. I also like crocheting and reading.

Describe the best concert you’ve attended.

Gracie Abrams’s tour in Bangkok! Best concert ever since she is my favorite artist of all time. I cried when I watched the concert, and I could sing every song!

What’s the best thing you’ve bought for $100 or less?

I just bought a melodica for only $5 HAHAHA. It’s really useful, though! I use it to perform my solo part in the song “cry jar.” Best deal ever!

Explain a lyric of yours that people misunderstand.

People misunderstand “cry jar” a lot. They think it’s about gold digging and stuff like that, but it was actually a joke about a relationship that has reached a point where you don’t know how to fix it anymore, so you ask your partner for the easy way out.

What’s a song you’d want to remix and why?

I think “covent garden” would be fun to remix. It’s a very pop song, but I’d like to see what it would sound like if it had more of a city-pop vibe.

Tell us about your favorite tattoo.

I have 8 tattoos, but my favorite is the one on my middle finger: a sad face facing outward and a happy face facing me. It kind of reminds me to be happy and not be afraid to express my sad emotions to others.

Best advice you’ve gotten?

My sister’s advice. She told me that if I love something, I should learn and keep doing it. Knowledge is the most important thing that helps me survive, and consistency is what will help me grow.

Worst advice you’ve gotten

“To think that being successful is the best revenge.” The funny thing is, this was my sister’s advice too HAHAHAHAHA, but it was when we were both young. The pressure and competitive environment in our family made us think like this. We’re normal and free now ☺️

What’s the ideal level of fame?

Mine is to spread my music all around the world and play at many big festivals. Is it too much? I dream big! And even if it doesn’t happen, that’s alright. I’m really happy with what I have right now too, but if I don’t dream big, then what’s the fun of doing all of this! 🫪

Describe your perfect afternoon.

Wake up late, drink coffee (peach flavor), play PS5 or watch some interrogation documentaries while my dog sits on my lap, and then fall asleep again.

What’s something you’re looking forward to?

Right now, it’s having a vacation and going back to my hometown to spend time with my family. But in the much bigger future, it’s a very big festival and a new album? 🫪

What’s the last thing you wrote in your notes app?

It’s actually this interview! Hahahah. I wrote it in the Notes app 😂 But excluding this interview note, it’s a list of what I need to bring on tour since I’m on a China tour right now. I tend to forget things hahahah.
