Geordie Greep has established a serious solo career in indie rock since the "indefinite hiatus" of former band black midi a little more than two years ago. Greep was on his third tour behind his 2024 solo record The New Sound until last week, when the British singer was accused of sexual misconduct by a purported friend of the alleged victim handing out flyers outside of his Vancouver show. Greep addressed those accusations on stage later that night, though neither party provided much in the way of details or corroborating evidence.

Now all of the remaining U.S. dates on Greep's fall tour have been canceled. That includes two shows in Colorado, as well as Salt Lake City, Omaha, and Boise. A show at Wooly's in Des Moines was also canceled, though initial reports indicated otherwise. The status of Greep's impending Europe dates remains unresolved.

Greep was set to play a show at Granville Street in Vancouver on Thursday, October 8. Ahead of that show, reports began to circulate on social media that an unnamed individual was distributing flyers outside of the venue accusing Greep of sexual assault. Per social media chatter, attendees of the concert said the individual handing out the fliers indicated that Greep had sexually assaulted his friend, but did not provide additional details or commentary. When Greep took the stage a few hours later without his band, he gave a long statement about the accusations.

"Essentially what happened last night, me and some of the band went out to some bars, we went around, we met people, and it ended up in a situation where really late at a house party, I got the wrong end of the stick with someone who was there, and I made a move, and it didn’t come off," Greep said in part. "I really quickly, of course, apologized, and it was a complete misunderstanding on my part. I felt extremely bad, I feel extremely sorry, and extremely upset about the whole situation. I would never rape a woman. I’m not a rapist. It’s not how that went down."

Greep said the night's proceeds would be donated to support anti-sexual violence charities in British Columbia and played a solo set. Per social media, a number of fans walked out of the show, while others remained. You can watch a video of Greep's statement below.
