Montreal maestro Jacques Greene is back with The FADER for a new mix.
On his latest album, jg (released October 16), he's crafted ornate productions perfectly suited for the thrall of the dance floor. The album features a smattering of collaborations with rising figures in electronic music, like fellow Montreal producer and DJ CFCF, Brooklyn's own umru, and Los Angeles producer and DJ SEES00000.
It's an exciting next chapter in a long career that's seen Greene work with everyone from a 2013 Tinashe and How to Dress Well to Nosaj Thing, who he works with as a duo, Verses GT. He's also made key remixes for Radiohead ("Lotus Flower") and Arlo Parks ("Heaven").
Jacques Greene's FADER Mix is not his first. In 2013, he made a mix for The FADER that evoked the dusty and gauzy synth-sound of the time, featuring everything from a killer Machinedrum cut to a chopped and screwed Trey Songs edit. For his 2026 mix, Greene crafted an energetic, hi-fi sprint of a set. At one point, a chipmonk-ified "Baby" edit comes in for a spin, a pyrotechnic stunt amidst a series of songs that bop between the serene and sensorial.

The FADER: What led you to start DJing?
Jacques Greene: I loved music, parties and people. Love being in control even more.
What’s the first set you ever played?
Warm up at the staff night of a label I interned at when I was 16-17, playing mostly the free records I was ‘paid’ in.
What DJs or artists inspire you?
Tiga. There’s no Montreal dance music as I understand it without him
How has your local scene shaped your mixing and curation?
I grew up in the indie rock heyday of Montreal and it routinely collided with the party scene. I think I can’t shake a sense of “anything goes.” Best song wins.
What’s the most memorable set you’ve ever played?
Impromptu b2bs come to mind. ‘Jacquesmaster’ with Jackmaster at sxsw eons ago. 6 hours of b2b with Nicolas Jaar at Bardot (rip) during Basel in Miami.
What excites you about the future of nightlife?
So many things. Every month I hear a song that’s the best thing I’ve ever heard. Obviously there’s tons of annoying stuff everywhere all the time, but if you filter out the noise, passionate people are making incredible stuff and throwing incredible events every day.
What DJ trend needs to die?
Bitter old heads bothered by young DJs doing their thing, however different it might be. I have sooo little patience for the jaded cynical guys (it’s always guys) go home man it’s all good.
How would you describe your FADER mix?
Sugar rush.
Where did you record the mix? Describe your surroundings.
Just got back from some really energizing club sets in Australia. Feeling loopy from jet lag and the club memories swirling through my brain, pieced it together at my studio in Little Italy, Montreal.
Beyond DJing and music, what's an interest you have that may surprise people?
Spending time on boomer forums getting help for doing the maintenance on my 35 year old BMW 3-series.
