Splice, the royalty-free sample library released its own digital audio workstation. Splice Create is out now in beta as a standalone Mac app, with Windows and web versions coming soon. It puts the company’s catalog of millions of human-made sounds, its Splice INSTRUMENT plugins, and a built-in assistant inside one studio.

Parts of Create can be run by voice or text through a feature called Assist. Producers can ask it to label tracks, group drums, insert effects, or sidechain a kick and bass. A second mode, Point, moves an on-screen pointer through the interface to teach production techniques step by step. Create also works with existing setups. Users can load the VSTs and sample folders they already own and choose Ableton, Logic, Bitwig, or Pro Tools keyboard shortcuts. Finished work exports as WAV stems or opens as an Ableton Live session.

The launch is framed around the AI debate. Splice says Assist does not generate new sounds. Instead, it searches the catalog, writes MIDI patterns, or works with Splice’s Variations tool, and everything lands in the session as editable audio. The company says it only trains on fully licensed data from its own catalog, compensates the original creators, and does not train on music users make or upload in Create.

“I’d been messing with ‘Innocent Smile’ for years, added a break beat from Splice, and it came alive. Splice Create gives people just starting out that same feeling, and you pick up how it works as you go,” says GRAMMY-nominated MC and producer Skepta. “Big up Splice, always there to cook with, even on my way to Ibiza at 30,000 feet.”
