By now you are either completely sick of Lil B’s copious Tweeting, totally into it or totally oblivious. However you look at it, he’s successfully experimenting with the murky world of free media. Why not release hundreds of songs on various MySpace pages? Why not write a book? Why not, at only 19-years-old, have a movie filmed about yourself and then release a five minute trailer to accompany it? Truthfully, if Lil B is trying to match his completely out there weirdness with actual song quality, he hasn’t quite reached his apex, but in terms of tirelessly devoting every waking moment to documenting his excursion from being just that one dude who was in The Pack to completely candid weirdo, he’s nailed it.

Lil’ B…. huge fukkin shout-outs from another humble human w/god aspirations, punk as fukk regardless, loves hip hop in all its forms, sun ra, king tubby, bass music of all kinds, the whole history of african american music (and studies it), and any and all things counter-cultural, from ken kesey and the merry pranksters till media-obsessed now…..
i feel like Lil’ B is doing what NO ONE has ever accomplished in this outpouring of music.
i came up in the DIY punk days when J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. and folk like that put out stuff at a rapid rate independently and -ruled-.
But Lil’ B is kinda runnin’ shit like Lil’ Wayne was two or so years ago when “I feel like dying” was the revelation of the summer. Where he goes with it from here, might just define the next modus operandi of indie artists, seriously.
Lil’ B — yo, i live in the mission SF, usually brooklyn, you should challah and come by my stoop for a lunch party and boombox freestyle and eats w/ good peoples session.
