There is absolutely nothing to grab onto here. Two songs melded into one, no discernible words or riff, just pervasive echo and heavy fog. It's background music that is powerful enough to flip everything else into the background. It's why we stay listening to Grouper all year round—in sweltering summer and when it is completely brick outside. How do you write songs like this? We couldn't tell you, maybe she couldn't either. This is actually oldish, from Grouper's second album Wide, which Weird Forest is reissuing. The label only pressed 1000 and it sold out while we were trying to order it, so until it pops up somewhere else we'll just make do with this.
