This one time we posted some really long Soundcloud stream of a bunch of slowed down and regular speed sleazy R&B, and some people were like I DON'T GET IT THIS IS JUST SLOWED DOWN AND REGULAR SPEED SLEAZY R&B. And then we pretty much were like, Sounds like you get it dudes! Which is a long way of saying that Games is less about being crazy innovative, and more about complete and utter commitment to a mood. And that mood is purple skies and a blunt while driving around in an obnoxious convertible. To be fair—or rather, to give Games some more breathing room, "Shadows in Bloom," from their upcoming EP That We Can Play (get it? They're called Games so it's like—okay yeah you get it), is more upbeat and happy. Less about being slow and more about transferring that same mood into a whole other zone. The stepping stones are the same, it's just that the end result is something new that sounds like something old. Fuck. What? The EP is out in November on Hippos in Tanks.
