We’ve heard bits of this, seen a live cover and now we are happy to present the full version of “Islands” (previously reworked/retitled as “Explore.”) Playing this in our office, the art department just said “Whoa, so weird,” and “Why did this happen?” These are both totally acceptable reactions to Shakira covering The XX. But why not! Everyone’s favorite she-wolf is allowed to love the world’s most beloved band, too. She just also happens to have access to, like, a full studio to replicate their “Islands” in a semi-Euro-house vibe for her upcoming album Sale el Sol, out Oct. 19th. Which is what we would do if we were her. We are fully through the looking glass here, friends.

It’s not half as bad as all her recent “hits”, she’s gone to trash basically… i.e. Loca, Loba / She Wolf, Waka Waka, etc… But, again, it is an xx song, so… It was a nice touch… I guess… Not raving mad about it….
