We saw Blonde Redhead this week at Webster Hall in New York for the first of the band's two-night stand, and, as usual, the perfection of their live show was borderline confusing. When musicians are able to recreate their recordings perfectly in person, it sets off the alarm bells, but we've seen Blonde Redhead enough to know that they just can't mess things up. Even in the second encore, when Kazu Makino introduced a batch of new songs by warning that it would not sound great, it, of course, sounded flawless. All to say that, because Makino doesn't open her mouth wide when she sings, it's hard to get a sense of how great a singer she is live, which is why this video of "Love Or Prison" from Penny Sparkle is great, because it's got closeups. And not just on her but the Pace bros with their Dead Ringer steez.
