Izza Kizza’s 10:15 Mixtape

January 03, 2011

Izza Kizza, Timbaland's forgotten child sounds a lot like Bubba Sparxxx, another Timbaland forgotten child. He's even got some of Petey Pablo's cartoonishly hyperactive monotone at times. Petey Pablo is also—you guessed it!—Another dude standing in the neglected by Timbaland corner. Who knows how or why this happened, and in the cases of these dudes it didn't even necessarily hurt their careers, but here we are. Izza Kizza's new mixtape, mixed by Nick Catchdubs and released on New Year's Eve, is a pretty great showing of the dude's versatility. At once grounded and totally out there wayyyy past the stratosphere, 10:15 jumps effortlessly from dark stomping elephant horns on "Money in the Bank" to a jittery vocal theatric thing with Twista on "Ding Pick it Up." Half the time we have no idea what Kizza is talking about, but it's kind like watching a really smart dude work through a complex math equation. You're not sure what's going on, but it's really impressive.
