Video: Brenmar, “Taking it Down”

The barber shop's a dream space and a sanctuary that signals the great care men have for each other, their children and themselves. Brenmar filmed "Taking it Down," a track from his debut EP, in his home shop Quickcuts, on Broadway in Brooklyn. I don't get my hair taken down regularly, but I keep my nails up. Going in for a manicure doesn't feel exactly luxurious, or even like a communal activity, but it's a time to breath slow for a second, empty out your mind and fill it up with whatever you'd like to make happen when you leave. Maybe when Brenmar gets his hair done, he's thinking about what the hair-shop would be if it were a disco instead of a hair-shop, and how he can hustle his whole life and yours into a dance. Check out the precious baby and his sweetie big sister at the :30 minute mark. And if you're in Europe, check out Brenmar—he's on tour from late May through mid June:
