Mykki Blanco: Cross-Dresser Poet Extraordinaire

July 22, 2011

Mykki Blanco (née Michael David Quattlebaum Jr.) is a beautiful cross-dresser, no doubt about that. Just look at her in her Opening Ceremony fashions, all tattooed and cinched tight with fringe and denim. She's got star quality! Don't be fooled by a pretty face, though: Blanco has beauty and brains. In these short videos filmed by Zachary Ching from Patent Leather Daddy, she reads from her new book of poetry From the Silence of Duchamp, which you can buy over at O.C. You'll notice that even while reciting odes, she never forgets to pose. A true lady. If you're in New York this weekend, she'll be performing along with Pablo Picasso at The Journal Gallery tomorrow. Check out the flier below.
