“Billie Holiday” first appeared on Warpaint’s debut EP Exquisite Corpse. Ostensibly devoted to its namesake, the track is a big, blue and drowned cover of Mary Wells’ 1964 #1 single, “My Guy.” The LA women have cleaned up and lopped off a couple minutes from the track with the help Pulp’s Steve Mackey, who produced the re-worked single. It will see a re-release on September 29th as a part of a deluxe edition of the band’s 2010 album The Fool. Warpaint play the Hollywood Bowl with Panda Bear and the Smith Westerns on September 25th.
