Is this evidence that New York rap as we remember loving it is back in full effect? Between ASAP Rocky and Mr. Muthafuckin Exquire and a constant urge to revisit the first couple Boot Camp Clik releases, something is in the air, and that something is a rain cloud filled with menacing vibes, a bazillion scuffed Timbs and a bunch of black champion hoodies. Here’s further proof of the grimy New York rap resurgence in the form of the previously unknown Troy Ave’s collaboration with the very much known and loved Prodigy on a song that sounds like it hopped in a time machine directly from a barrel fire under a bridge in New York in 1994.
