Report: Mobb Deep’s Prodigy Died Of Accidental Choking

Prodigy, one-half of of hip-hop's legendary Mobb Deep, died at 42 this June. Now, according to a report from TMZ, the Clark County Medical Examiner has determined that the official cause of death was accidental choking.

The rapper was hospitalized at the time of death, having been receiving treatment for sickle cell anemia. Prodigy had battled the disease for his entire life, and was in the hospital after a flare-up following a performance.

After his passing, the hip-hop community was quick to pay tribute to the New York rapper. Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Flying Lotus, Nas, and many more mourned the loss of one of hip-hop's most influential figures.
