Last night on Conan, the dudes from Das Racist put their usual bug-out energy into being their own band instead of dancing and flailing. During their performance of "Michael Jackson," Heems spun around in circles and Kool A.D. wore a wig and took turns with Chairlift’s Patrick Wemberly on the drums. This performance is one of those really bananas things that has the potential to go down in history with Fear's 1981 Saturday Night Live appearance on some, "How did this happen on mainstream television?" business. They jammed on MPCs! They had Yasmine from LA noise outfit Tearist on cymbals! They brought out a Michael Jackson impersonator! Love it or hate it, they put their weird stamp on it.
