This February, James Murphy told Stephen Colbert that he was retiring LCD Soundsystem because he wanted more time to “make coffee,” but he may actually have meant more time to make movies. He appears alongside Tim Heidecker of Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! in The Comedy, a cautionary tale and “scathing look at the white male on the verge of collapse,” set, unsurprisingly, in Brooklyn. Murphy will play a hipster that’s getting older in the film, which has been accepted to compete at next year’s Sundance Film Festival. The Comedy was written and directed by Rick Alverson and produced by Jagjaguwar in partnership with Greyshack Films and Glass Eye Pix.
