Did Rihanna Steal The “We Found Love” Video From Sandy Kim?

January 03, 2012

It's not the first time someone has cried foul on Rihanna for stealing ideas from photographers for her mega music videos, but FADER contributor Bryan Derballa has noticed more than a few similarities between her massively popular video for "We Found Love" and the photography of Sandy Kim. He's thoroughly presented the evidence over on his site, so you can make your own call, but it looks to us like RiRi's storyboard was cut straight from Kim's diary. This kind of pop star appropriation has been news since Madonna stole the essence of "Vogue" from the gay ballrooms of way-uptown Manhattan, but even in a world of cultural give-and-take, Rihanna's mimesis strikes just a little too much like the original for our taste. Tell us what you think in the comments.
