The opening day of the FADER FORT Presented By Converse is always exciting but it's also a little nerve-wracking? How can it live up to previous FORTs? Is Kanye going to come? Lou Reed? Aziz Ansari?! But any mild worries were of course unfounded as soon as Troy Noka, wearing plaid pants that looked way too warm for the Texas heat, hit the stage. The day continued awesomely, with a kingly performance by Santigold featuring a horse cameo, 2 Chainz who was fairly late but absurdly polite in apologizing. (Was a FADER dream to hear "Duffle Bag Boy" live). Nguzunguzu DJ'd weird and heavy, Nick Catchdubs played Cam'ron and Fat Pat. We ate Roberta's Pizza, drank coffee from Stumptown and got to read through magazines from Southwest Airlines while not on a plane. We listened to artists from the FORT on Beats by Dre headphones while Nokia served us slushies, Bushmills Honey gave us lemonade and tea and Votiv let us chill out in their hospitality lounge. The next three days should be just as amazing with so many artists scheduled to perform. Check out photos by Bryan Derballa, OG and Courtney Dudley to reminisce on yesterday or check out what you missed. And even if you're not in Texas, you can watch the FORT streaming live on FUSE TV.
