Pinemarten is no stranger to ’80s R&B—last year, he released an entire EP of Carly Simon covers—and here, again, he mines the decade with an edit of George Benson's Grammy award-winning "Turn Your Love Around," a song whose melody is probably more ingrained in FADER readers' brains as sampled on Lil Kim's oral anthem, "Not Tonight." Pinemarten's version stays faithful to the upbeat original, working more as a spiritual guide than appropriator, incorporating ecstatic, sky-surfing synths without becoming overbearing and toying with filters, almost French house style, to prep the song for the year's first round of rooftop beers.
