Frank Ocean, Kanye West, Drake, M.I.A Score VMA Nominations

July 31, 2012

MTV have announced the nominees for 2012's Video Music Awards. Frank Ocean's "Swim Good" was nominated in three categories, Best New Artist, Best Male Video, and Best Direction. M.I.A.'s epic "Bad Girls" clip is curiously nominated for Video of the Year (as well as Best Cinematography and Best Direction), but not for Best Female Video. Rihanna managed nods in both the Best Female and Video of the Year categories for "We Found Love"; she and Drake lead the pack with five nominations apiece. Beyonce, who announced her pregnancy at last year's VMAs, received nods for both "Love on Top" and "Countdown." Hopefully she'll attend this year's show (September 6) with Jay-Z, who was nominated for his and Kanye West's "Paris" video; Kanye dominates the Best Hip-Hop Video category with two nominations, for "Paris" as well as "Mercy." Lil Wayne and Demi Lovato, who does a serious Lil Wayne cover, are both up for Best Video With a Message, an award introduced last year. Vote for Video of the Year and check out all of the nominees over at MTV.
