Video: Antony and the Johnsons, “Cut the World”

August 06, 2012

"Cut the World" is the first video from Antony and the Johnson’s live album of the same name (out tomorrow in the US via Secretly Canadian), which captures a series of performances with a symphony last year in Copenhagen. The grayed pastel clip, which climaxes in blood and ends in tears, was directed by NABIL, also responsible for recent clips from Kanye West and Frank Ocean, and stars Willem Dafoe, Marina Abramović and Dutch actress Carice van Houten. The video will be shown this weekend at the Antony-curated Meltdown festival in London, followed by a screening of Turning, a film/performance hybrid conceived by Antony and artist Charles Atlas. For more on Abramović, read Katie Notopolous' FADER #80 piece on why the artist makes people cry.
