Today, Kurt Vile announced that he has a new LP called Walkin on a Pretty Daze coming out April 9th via Matador. Vile recorded the album last year with producer John Agnello (who also did Vile’s 2011 Smoke Ring for My Halo LP), and commissioned Philly graffiti legend Steve Powers bka ESPO to make a giant wall mural for the cover. “Walkin on a Pretty Day,” the nine-minute lazy epic of a first single, opens with the words waking at dawn of day; appropriately, Matador has set it to time-lapse documentary footage of ESPO hard at work on a crane, with only the position of the sun in the sky to mark the passage of time. Check out an original documentary on ESPO here, as well as our recent Brooklyn Bound interview with Kurt Vile at Record Grouch.
