Watch Kanye West Talk to Angie Martinez

November 26, 2013

"I need like a water," Kanye West said, finding reason to pause for the first time only at the tail end of the hour he spent with Hot 97's Angie Martinez tonight. The big news to come out of the interview -- if you could even call it that, seeing as Kanye mostly led the conversation, allowing Angie and Kim K. to get in a few words edgewise -- was West's low-key confirmation that he's taking his shoe designs to Adidas "because I have royalties and I have to provide for my family." But Kanye being Kanye, there was also much more to the conversation: he explained that his recent bout of "openness" is a result of the "power" and "foundation" his new family has provided; admitted that Kim's gift of lessons with Deepak Chopra was for naught, because "You can't meditate me out of my ideas... only success calms me down"; suggested that the way Obama drops his and Kim's name is like a rapper would add a feature to a song; sang the "No New Friends" hook; and made yet another plea to corporate big shots, saying, "You don't have to be scared of me because I am loyal." Then he excused himself because, speaking of, he had a meeting with a corporation and he didn't want to be late. Watch the whole thing below.
