Drake announced a new partnership with Nike onstage last night at Portland's Moda Center, just a couple miles away from Nike's Beaverton, OR headquarters. "Today also happens to be one of the best days of my life," he said. "You know, growing up, I'm sure we all idolized this guy he goes by the name of Michael Jordan. So today, I came to Portland and I officially became inducted into the Team Jordan family. So I feel like I'm at home right now." (Drake also said this onstage: "Shape Magazine says that Portland is number one for cyclists, microbreweries and single women, so I'm excited about this.")
After the show, Drake previewed samples of OVO's Jordan designs on Instagram: Jordan Xs in black and white, and Jordan XIIs in black and white. Nike confirmed the alliance this morning on Twitter, writing, "Welcome the newest member of #TeamJordan: @Drake."
This partnership follows Kanye's recently confirmed deal with adidas, and the dissolution of Kanye's relationship with Nike. The New York Post reports that Kanye's adidas deal is reportedly worth 10 million, while at Nike he "only got 10 to 20 cents on the dollar for sales of his sneakers."
