Dev Hynes releases title track off Gia Coppola and James Franco’s much-anticipated film “Palo Alto.”

April 25, 2014

As though the mashup of Gia Coppola’s aesthetics, James Franco’s writing and predatory charisma and Emma Robert’s breakout performance weren't enough to guarantee that Palo Alto will be the film on everyone’s lips this summer, Dev Hynes has scored the film, bringing his downtown pop sensibilities to the lilting suburban cinematography. The title track, “Palo Alto,” fuses spacey instrumentals with Hynes’ voice at its smokiest. The soundtrack also features Coconut Records, Mac DeMarco’s adolescent ennui anthem “Ode To Viceroy,” Tonstartssbandht's “5FT7” and tracks from The FADER cover star's last record, Cupid Deluxe. Look out for a forthcoming TED Talk in which Hynes discusses harnessing his synesthesia to score Palo Alto and catch the film in theaters on May 9th.
