Big Boi Signs to Epic Records

“You’re definitely going to get some brand new Big Boi material,” he says. “Two or three singles before the fall.”

May 10, 2014

Earlier this year, Big Boi told Revolt.TV that he's working on a solo album. Now it seems like we'll get to hear at least a taste of it before 2014 ends. While performing in NYC Thursday night, the rapper promised that "two or three singles" are on the way before fall, as The Huffington Post reports. He also revealed that he signed a deal with Epic Records the day after OutKast's first Coachella reunion set. Big Boi's new record deal is a kind homecoming for him since Antonio "L.A." Reid, who inked the deal with him for Epic, first signed OutKast to LaFace Records in 1992. While working as Island Def Jam CEO, Reid also signed Big Boi to a solo contract at IDJ, where the rapper released 2010's Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty and 2012's Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors. There's no release date set yet for the album. Big Boi said he'll be taking his time with it: "The album, I'm not gonna rush."
