Pictureplane’s Back and He’s More Rave Than Ever

Watch the now NYC-based producer’s trance-inspired new video “Self Control.”

When we last heard from rave-echo channelling producer Pictureplane, he was still based in his beloved city of Denver. Fast forward a couple of years and Travis Egedy—Pictureplane's alter-ego—is now living in NYC and splits his time touring places like Japan and Russia, and designing a popular line of shirts for Mishka that fans Instagram themselves wearing. Some new music was way overdue, so it's nice to see Egedy's made a splash of it with a video for new song "Self Control" directed by Shomi Patwary, whose credits include Beyoncé and A$AP Rocky. Featuring LA singer Grace Hall, it's got all the hallmarks of a '90s UK chart trance hit—so, right up my street then—plus those unmistakable, skippy Pictureplane drums. The video's a blast too, set in a "dystopian near future New York" and featuring aliens (naturally) and an intergalactic rave.
