Samo Sound Boy and Jerome LOL Team up For "Love Songs," Announce Collaborative LP

FADER PREMIERE

Sometimes, LA's resident dance music freaks and Body High founders Samo Sound Boy and Jerome LOL make collaborative electronic music as DJ Dodger Stadium. On July 8th they'll release Friend Of Mine, their debut full-length as a pair. The video for that project's lead-off track, "Love Songs," is just sluggish arial shots of pretty Los Angeles that I think were captured by drone cameras, an aesthetic choice that works well considering the song's skittering backbeat kind of sounds like a sad helicopter. "It was the first track we wrote for our album and [it] ended up setting the tone for the whole thing," Samo Sound Boy says of the song. "It's about heartbreak and the hypnotic loneliness of Los Angeles," he adds, a theme that is aided by the interminable vocal loop that goes Lately I've been singing love songs by myself and gradually grows fuller-sounding as the track expands. Watch/listen above and then check out the FADER Mix that the duo made last summer.
