Hear G-Unit Jump on Jeremih and DJ Mustard’s Summertime Anthem

50 Cent’s crew jump on a Mustard beat to raise anticipation for their 2014 comeback mixtape.

June 28, 2014

After taking to Hot 97.3 this week (listen below) to announce that a G-Unit comeback mixtape would be arriving in the "near future," 50 Cent has unleashed yet another zeitgeist-netting remix designed to springboard the crew into summertime playlists. Earlier this month, they laid their fighting talk over Drake's sprawling "0 to 100;" now Fif, Tony Yayo, Young Buck, Lloyd Banks and Kidd Kidd have truly brought themselves into 2014 by bouncing on DJ Mustard, Jeremih and YG's "Don't Tell 'Em." Where Jeremih lifts up for the chorus, G-Unit keep things on a level, counteracting Mustard's hyperactivity with an understated street flow, announcing G-Unit plus Jeremih equals summertime anthem. It's a simple trick, but aside from some awkward canned dad-laughter, it frames them with a relevance and a sense of humour that was missing from 50's appearance at Summer Jam 2014. It's enough to raise that itchy curiosity about their next move.
