Video: Vybz Kartel Is Still Angwi

Vybz Kartel telling Bounty Killer what he can and cannot do with his own tongue can only mean one of two things, ultimately. Kartel is extremely concerned with his former mentor and current enemy’s oral hygiene, or, ITS GOING DOWN AT STING THIS YEAR. Last year’s clash between Kartel and Mavado extinguished the Gully God’s angst altogether, steering him to new heights of positivity, Mavado only using his tropical howl to serenade if not inspire the youth. Kartel, however, who some have begun to label a bully, remains hungry like the wolf, and as of late has been showing his teeth to Killer directly. What most ignore in their condemnation of Kartel though is that to bully successfully, you do have to be stronger than everyone else. In brighter Kartel news, a DJ named I.V. slapped a Vybz Kartel verse pon 50’s new single and it sounds better than it ever could have without Kartel telling his lady, “shift yuh panties partially.” Have baby by Vybz baby, be a gaza girl.

50 Cent, “Crime Wave” MP3

Before I Self Destruct, 50 Cent’s fourth studio album, is currently scheduled for release on November 23rd or what Universal is calling “Super Monday.” The album will be up against pop juggernauts like Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Jay Sean, Timbaland and also less notably, Lil Wayne’s surrogate dad/puppet master, Birdman. Since his monstrous debut, 50’s been trying to sing and dance his way into the ranks of pop super-stardom through Justin Timberlake features and Scott Storch beats. Though he’d like to believe he never abandoned the “aggressive content” of a relatively flawless mixtape career, he’s far better known for poor acting and lazering off all his tattoos than he is for threatening to ride through your neighborhood with a cocked gun hanging out the window. Which is a shame because when 50 used to threaten us, we believed him. Actually, we still do. It’s just that he doesn’t threaten us that much anymore.

We were so close. The War Angel LP revealed a musical ingenuity we thought 50 had long waved goodbye to. You can get it for free right now from Thisis50 (and you should). But was it wrong to relish in his anger? Way back in 2003, he kicked his way into our hearts with songs that sampled gun cocking. “I’ll Do Anything” may not be the agro 50 we fell in love, but we still can’t help but gush at the sight of him and Yayo dressed in Eric B. and Rakim costumes.

Freeload: 50 Cent, “Redrum (Murder)” MP3

Why isn’t every other post on Thisis50.com just a 50 Cent interview? His quotes are always monumental (intentionally or unintentionally) and it’s not like they don’t have the access. Maybe it’s because lately he sounds more and more frustrated and they don’t want to get yelled at. Nobody does, really. Not in person anyway. “Redrum,” however, is 50 yelling at the Earth and it feels like we’ve been waiting on it forever. It’s the first song off his War Angel LP, which he’ll be premiering tonight on Hot 97 with Funk Master Flex. Expect bombs.

The “Boom Boom Pow” Remixes = That Mayan Apocalypse Thing?

PUUEEEPPUHHLL IN THAA PUUHHHLLAACCEEAAHHH IF YA WANNA GET DOWNNAAAHHH. Haha. That shit is terrible, but in the grand scheme of things, both of the remixes of the Black Eyed Peas’ newest effort that surfaced this weekend are not bad. The first, with Gucci and 50, sounds nothing like the original in the best way possible until the end when the Rave Machine 3008 featuring Fergie kind of ruins it. Cudi’s version on the other hand is more closely related to what we’ve heard already, though he seems to be a lot more comfortable doing club tracks since the Crookers remix of “Day N Nite” became his signature song. All in all, not as mad as we’d like to be at either of these, though we reserve the right to retract when Fergie mushrooms to a height of 300 feet and eats everyone in sight who is not dancing real hard.

Freeload/Video: Eminem, “We Made You”

After reading this New York Magazine cover story about Facebook on the train this morning, and then watching Em’s new video, in which he does his old schtick taking out slow-moving targets, it dawned on us that in the few years since Encore, the snarky, narcissistic world/internet world of old has crumbled just enough to make the near sociopathic abuse of the Aftermath triumvirate (minus silent Dre, of course) feel a little bit out of touch. But hey, we wish them the best of luck!

There is nothing more boring in February 2009 than 50 Cent trying to clown rappers, except maybe writing about 50 Cent trying to clown rappers, so we’re just going to put RawSSSesome’s new video up and say that we will jam this at the forthcoming FADER beach parties even if Rick joins the NYPD narco squad and arrests us at said beach party for holding weed and then text messages his baby’s mother bragging about it trying to impress her.

At one point, many millions of people were probably very excited about the unholy triumvirate of hip hop known as Aftermath Entertainment. Unfortunately, that point was four years ago (at least) and 50’s newest single (via Nah Right) puts another nail in the coffin. Though, we will agree with Catchdubs that the 10-second piano melody on the outro is a minor consolation. After the jump, check tracklist for 50’s Before I Self-Destruct (too late!) which features production not only from Dre but Scott Storch, Hi Tek, DJ Khalil, and JR Rotem.

**Update** The official version of Eminem’s “Crack A Bottle”, previously known as “Number One”, leaked with the Dre and 50 verses applied. As you can see after the jump, it’s not on 50’s album, so let’s see if it ends up on Relapse or Detox (ha).

Video: 50 Cent f. Akon, “I Still Will”

Alright look, we actually liked the Curtis album, and we liked this song too, plus you KNOW how we feel about Akon, but it’s getting to the point where we just imagine 50 cent slowly working towards being the next LL Cool J, constantly lifting weights, licking his lips, doing washed out videos like this and watching Canibus army base freestyles about like, hidden pyramids and luminous illuminati scrolls. More Akon!

For A Green Card I Carve Him Up Real Nice

More from the international GrimeWatch desk: a few months back, our man Matt at RWD sent us their latest issue, with Kano decked out Tony Montana-style. And now the most recent VIBE seems to be, erm, following suit (yar har!) with their 50 Cent feature. We’ll leave any dot-connecting to y’all, but hmmm indeed…
