Last time we posted about Montreal singer-songwriter Sea Oleena she was covering Beyoncé on a cassette compilation that also included artists like Emily Reo and Alex G. On September 20th, she will release her new full-length, Shallow, on Lefse Records. "If I'm," a haunting song from that release, seems kind of fragile at first as she conjures up images of blankets and birch trees over emphatically struck piano keys. Ultimately, though, it reveals itself to be something tougher and weirder and slightly darker than all that. The record's artwork, inserted bigger below, is an interesting reflection of the pained, hazy beauty she emanates here.
